AmnioFix Q&A

What is AmnioFix?

AmnioFix is a non-surgical, non-steroidal, in-office treatment. It’s an injection of human amniotic membrane allograft to aid in the healing and repairing of wounds. It’s a great option if you’ve been considering surgery but want a less invasive procedure or if you’ve been unable to find relief from your inflammation symptoms.

What is in AmnioFix?

AmnioFix is comprised of amniotic membrane allograft which is derived from the placenta tissue of consenting mothers at the time of a live, full-term, elective Cesarean birth. It contains many beneficial components for tissue repair and wound healing including:

  • Collagen substrate
  • Cellular components
  • Growth factor
  • Amino acids
  • Carbohydrates
  • Cytokines

What does AmnioFix do?

After the AmnioFix is applied to the targeted area, it signals to your body’s own cells to flock to the site of injury and enhance the processes of healing by regenerating damaged tissue. The injection contains growth factors to modulate inflammation and reduce scar tissue formation, making it a great non-invasive alternative to surgery for pain relief.

Is AmnioFix right for me?

The treatment is offered as a regenerative medicine for chronic osteoarthritis, tendinitis, or other related diseases. For most patients, oral or topical anti-inflammatories and having minimal stress will usually help heal inflammation resulting from an injury. If additional treatment is needed, the team at Express Family Clinic may recommend AmnioFix.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

As experts, Sunil Modi, MD, and Pradeep Parihar, MD, can schedule you an appointment for an evaluation and consultation to see if AmnioFix is a viable treatment option for you. On the day of treatment, the procedure is actually very short and requires no necessary at-home pre-appointment preparation.

What happens after the treatment?

After the injection to the injured area, the team may prescribe some rehabilitation exercises or direct you to a rehabilitation treatment center for post-treatment care. For AmnioFix to work optimally, it’s important for you to follow post-treatment care.
